Each has its own guide with the same comparisons of programs, cost and pay, so a program across the state line can be weighed against one at home, keeping in mind that a public school charges nonresidents more.
This guide
Studying software engineering in Georgia
A degree titled software engineering puts design, testing and the management of large software projects at the center, where computer science centers on computation itself. Georgia offers both, and many software engineers hold either one.

Methodology
How we ranked these programs
Programs in Georgia are ranked against each other at the same degree level, highest score first. The score is out of 100 and comes from our national rankings, so a program carries the same score on every page of this site. It isn’t curved for Georgia: each factor is measured against fixed national standards, which is why even the strongest program here can sit well below 100.

Mercer's Software Engineering M.S.E. sits in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the School of Engineering, and it is offered online as a distance learning program. Enrollment depends on the state where you live. The program teaches you to run a software development or maintenance project through its whole life cycle, from requirements analysis and object-oriented design to object-oriented programming and testing, using iterative, incremental processes.
You learn refactoring for lower-level designs and design patterns for higher-level ones, and you build proficiency in Java, C++ or C#. You can also develop capabilities in software architectures, software testing and software security, apply agile software development processes, and run data science analyses in a language such as Python.
